2025 StFXAUT Book Prize Award

The StFXAUT Book Prize is awarded to graduating students who demonstrate a commitment to social justice advocacy and community development on campus or in the community. Each student was presented with a cash award of $200 and two books.

This award is officially acknowledged on students’ StFX University transcripts.

The StFXAUT would like to congratulate the 2025 Book Prize Award recipients Ro Paradela and Emily Head.

Ro was awarded the following books:

  1. Hospicing Modernity by Vanessa Machado de Oliveira, recommended by their nominators, the Sociology Department and Dr. Wojciech Tokarz
  2. Truth and Conviction: Donald Marshall Jr. and the Mi’kmaw Quest for Justice by Dr. L. Jane McMillan, StFX Professor of Anthropology, recommended by the StFXAUT Book Prize Committee.

Emily was awarded the following books:

  1. Less is More: How Degrowth Will Save the World by Jason Hickel, recommended her nominator Dr. Brad Long
  2. Truth and Conviction: Donald Marshall Jr. and the Mi’kmaw Quest for Justice by Dr. L. Jane McMillan, StFX Professor of Anthropology, recommended by the StFXAUT Book Prize Committee
